Kadukkai is a fruit of tree which grows in all climate conditions of India. These fruits are collected, dried well, deseeded their kernels and the flushy fruit part only ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground particles. It is necessary to remove its kernels before using it.
It is called as Inknut or Chebulic in English, Haritaki or Harad in Hindi. Its Botanica Name is Terminalia Chebula.
